Murder mystery name generator
A good character name does half the acting. “Frankie ‘Ace’ Delacroix” walks into a speakeasy with a backstory before saying a word, and a guest who would never do an accent will happily answer to “Captain” all night.
Pick a theme and generate as many names as you like. Every name is gender-neutral, so anyone can play any character, and every combination is original, so you won't accidentally cast a famous person.
- Bobbie Larkspur
- Billie “Spats” Fitzhugh
- Inspector Hargrove
- Detective Jackie Sterling
- Billie “Two-Step” Marchbanks
- Frankie Hargrove
- Billie “Moxie” Ashby

How to use it
- Choose one of the 8 themes. Names, nicknames and titles change with the era.
- Press “Generate names” for a fresh set of eight. Keep pressing until a name makes you grin.
- Copy the ones you like straight into your invitations or name tags.
- Mix a title with a nickname for big characters (“Doc ‘Velvet’ Ashby”) and keep plain names for quieter roles.
Questions
Are these names free to use?
Yes. Use them for any party, printable or custom game. They are combinations of ordinary first names, surnames and nicknames, not anyone's real identity.
Why are the names gender-neutral?
So any guest can play any character without rewriting anything. Nicknames and titles carry the flavor of the era instead.
Can Killer Cast name the characters for me?
Yes. When we write your custom case, every guest gets a named character with a role, a secret and costume ideas, all fitting the theme you choose.
